Did it
take a long time to get your first book published?
Yes. It
took me two years to write Fire Baptized. I was scared and unsure of myself as
a writer.
Additionally,
all of the people in my critique hated my initial male love interest. He was a
vampire that everyone believed was cliché.
I ended up
completely removing the vampire love interest. I created a new character named
Zulu who all my fans absolutely love. So I’m glad I listened to my critique
group.
Do you
work another job as well as your writing work?
I’m an
equal employment opportunity specialist with the Department of Labor. I also go
to University of Miami law school part time.
Do you
have a "lucky charm" or "lucky routine" you follow when
waiting for your book to be accepted by a publisher?
I’m a big
outliner and day dreamer. I first outline the whole book and basically spend my
days dreaming about the possible outcomes within the outline.
This is
probably my favourite part of the creative process!
Which of
your books were easier/harder to write than the others?
Fire
Baptized was the hardest because I had never wrote anything before. I felt
unconfident a lot of times.
The sequel
The Burning Bush was extremely easy to write. I know the characters and the
world by heart. I also know that I can’t please everyone so my goal is to
publish a book that I believe is high quality and entertaining.
What can
we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books
of a different genre?
There will
be at least five books in the habitat series. Fire Baptized is book one of the
series. Caged View is a free prequel of the series.
I also
have a large group of talented people working on a free web comic animated
series for Fire Baptized. They are a group of animators, illustrators, voice
actors, and musicians that love the world and want to see it in live action.
I’m really
hyped about it! You should see the series this summer. I will be giving updates

What genre
would you place your books into?
I would
definitely say Fire Baptized falls into the adult Dark Urban Fantasy genre. Many
also consider the book to be a Horror Romance.
Do you
gift books to readers to do reviews?
Yes. Now
that Fire Baptized is in the KDP program I give away all Nook formats to anyone
who wants it.

Do you
read all the reviews of your book/books?
I read
every single review. I just make sure I don’t comment on the review.
There has
been a bad case of authors harassing readers who post negative reviews on their
books. I think it’s a horrible move.
In the
end, some readers will like my book and some will hate it. I’m definitely okay
with that.
